Our EVOO version of a classic American southern cake, so named because it’s supposed to make you hum with delight.
With COVID restrictions being eased here in Victoria, we thought this cheerful “fruit cake” will be an appropriate afternoon tea treat to make and enjoy with a friend (within covid guideline/protocol) in person or virtually.

We’re proud to announce that Cape Schanck Olive Estate were awarded this year’s top gong of ‘Best in Show’ for our Picual varietal EVOO at the recent Australian International Olive Oil Awards.
With a top field of medal winning entries from across the country, our single varietal EVOO topped the judges’ scores at 95/100, to win the top prize for a commercial quantity producer. The distinct varietal then achieved a clean sweep across all eligible trophy categories, taking out the awards for Champion Spanish Varietal, Best Victorian EVOO, Best Australian EVOO, Best Southern Hemisphere EVOO and Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil of Show Commercial Volume. And with our Coratina and Leccino varietal EVOOs also receiving Gold at the event.
The annual ceremony, held on the 16th of October, capped off a big year for our single varietal EVOOs, which also received a Gold Medal for the Coratina varietal at the Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition in February and two Gold Medals for our Picholine and Frantoio varietals respectively, at the New York International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition in May.
